A Bit About Edmay

Ed Tersoom Kurchi (Edmay) is a multidisciplinary creative professional with a strong foundation in fine arts, digital illustration, and creative direction. With over 5 years of experience across fashion design, media production, visual storytelling, and art exhibition curation, Ed brings a holistic, hands-on approach to design thinking, content strategy, and artistic innovation. Her work integrates traditional craftsmanship with modern tools and techniques, reflecting a deep commitment to African heritage, faith-inspired creativity, and socially impactful storytelling.

Design Assistant - Marté Egele, Lagos, Nigeria. 

I worked as a design assistant to the Senior Designer / Operations and Marketing Manager. Role description:

  • Assisted the Senior Designer in the creative process for seasonal designs, lookbooks, and campaigns by brainstorming ideas and producing rough sketches using suitable colours, shapes, and materials.

  • Supported in handling creative briefs, facilitating client meetings, and making presentations to the Senior Designer or clients. 

  • Interface between the Design team and the Operations Team to ensure quality checks and design fulfilment. 

  • Prepared and assessed detailed working drawings, models, or prototypes, using computer-aided design (CAD) in preparation for production. 

  • Assisted in the management of social media platforms, i.e. Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter and LinkedIn.

  • Created social media and Website content, including Video, Stop Motion, Graphic Design and Pictures.

  • Managed and maintained relations with vendors for local sourcing relating to fabric design, and regularly ensured up-to-date leather inventory management.

Administrative Officer to Head of Department - Trinity University, Sabo-Yaba, Lagos  

I worked as an administrative officer to the Head of the Department of Political Science and International Relations. Role description:

  • Dispatching of memos to different units of the University

  • Providing support services to members of the Department.

  • Welcoming visitors, clients, and students and responding to guest inquiries

  • Typing and printing various office documents

  • Filing important office paperwork and department documents

  • Maintain office equipment and supplies, and ensure the office operates at optimal efficiency.

Social Media Manager - Niftyrow Marketplace, Lagos, Nigeria.

I was in charge of the company’s interactions with the public through its social media platforms. Role description:

  • Creating content, including text posts, video and images for use on social media

  • Promoting services and content over social media in a way that is consistent with the company’s brand and social media strategy

  • Scheduling social media posts 

Intern/Apprentice - Attamora Pottery Centre, Ikire, Osun.

I interned with a pottery centre in Osun State for three months as part of my undergraduate requirement. Role Description:

  • Maintenance of Workshop environment and equipment.

  • Providing support services to the CEO in Charge of the workshop.

  • Preparing and moving artworks for sale.

  • Attending to visitors and clients in the absence of the CEO

Production Assistant - Indigo Reimagined, University of Lagos

I was fortunate to work with Prof. Peju Layiwola in the production of some of her works for her Exhibition, which took place at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. Role Description:

  • Assisted in the painting and glazing of ceramic wares

  • Assisted in the production of hand moulds for the production of artworks
